Setting and enforcing appropriate speed limits can help reduce the number of traffic fatalities by reducing the likelihood and severity of accidents. Lower speed limits can decrease the stopping distance for vehicles, giving drivers more time to react to potential hazards. Additionally, lower speeds can reduce the impact force of a collision, which can decrease the likelihood of serious injury or death. Strict enforcement of speed limits can also deter drivers from speeding, further contributing to a safer road environment. **
