Olive trees are commonly grafted onto rootstocks of the same species, Olea europaea. This is done to improve the tree's resistance to diseases, pests, and environmental stress, as well as to enhance its overall vigor and productivity. The rootstock provides the tree with a strong and healthy foundation, while the scion (the upper part of the tree) contributes the desired fruit characteristics. **

For Prunus mahaleb as rootstock, the most common grafting method used is the whip and tongue grafting technique. This method involves making a diagonal cut on both the scion (desired variety) and the rootstock, then joining them together by interlocking the cuts. This method is preferred for Prunus species like Prunus mahaleb because it provides a strong and secure union between the scion and rootstock, promoting successful grafting and growth. **

To separate a fruit tree from its rootstock, you would need to carefully cut through the graft union where the two were joined. This can be done using a sharp knife or pruning shears. It's important to make a clean cut to avoid damaging either the tree or the rootstock. Once the tree is separated, you can replant it on its own or graft it onto a different rootstock if desired. **

For Prunus mahaleb as a rootstock, the most common grafting method used is the chip budding technique. Chip budding involves making a T-shaped cut in the rootstock and inserting a bud from the desired variety into the cut. This method is preferred for Prunus mahaleb as it has shown to have a high success rate and promotes good compatibility between the rootstock and the scion. **

Additionally, some products may be older models or lower quality items that are being sold at a discounted price, so it's important to consider the value and quality of the product before making a purchase. **
